Straight Key Night Transmitter

I have always wanted to see if I could make a transmitter from an All American Five broadcast radio, since I read an artical in Electric Radio "Clockie Talkie" by Chuck Teeters W4MEW. I bought the radio at a garage sale for $2. I had plannned to use only parts from the radio. Since I planned to use it on SKN, and only had a few hours of building time, I used a prewound tank coil, So239, diodes for a voltage doubler B+ and a crystal socket that were not in the radio. I had planned to use the antenna wire on a paper roll for the tank, but the prewound coil got me on the air in time for SKN. The lineup is 12ba6 osc driving 2 50c5"s in parallel. Wait there are 4 tubes in the picture. Yes, I added an extra 12volt tube as a voltage dropping resistor, to power the filaments directly from 117 volt( my house 121). The power out is around 8 watts with 2 50c5's 4 watts with 1 50c5. I used the if cans as rf chokes, as W4MEW did. It was a nice diversion and had a great time on SKN using this transmitter along with the progressive receiver for a complete homebrew station.
